Introduction

This should apply to many similar HP Pavilion laptops of similar age.

There are very few little tricks to opening this to access the RAM slots and SSD.

Step 1:  HP Pavilion Laptop 15-eg0xxx Disassembly to access RAM and SSD.

·                  At first, start by turning off the laptop properly, then disconnect the power cord.

·                  There are only two screws visible on the bottom indicated by the green circles, both are of the same size and length, remove them.

·                  There are four screws hidden under rubber stickers/paddings, indicated by the orange circles, remove the stickers and the screws underneath.

Step 2:

      ·                  Using a guitar pick, release the plastic retaining clips that hold the bottom of the case on.

·                  The bottom cover should now be free.

Step 3:

·                  Before doing anything you should remove the Li-ion battery first. Which has 8 screws in its plastic frame to attach it to the laptop’s body. (indicated by red rectangle 1)

·                  Now it is safe and the SSD and RAM are accessible. (Indicated by green rectangle 3,4)

·                  To remove the RAM release the hinge clips from both ends. (Indicated by green rectangle 3)

·                  To remove the SSD from its mount remove the screw from the end. (Indicated by green rectangle 4)

·                  In addition to those you can access wifi module as well. (Indicated by the green rectangle 5)

Step 4

·                  When reassembling, keep the unit upside down and put the battery back into place first after all the required replacements are done.

·                  Put the back cover in its place.

·                  Turn on the computer before replacing the screws.

·                  At first, it might take some time to start as there is no CMOS battery other than the main one, it might restart once.

·                  If everything is ok then, to reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
